RTGS.global reflects on some of its big moments in 2024
Another year over – and a new one (just) begun! Join us as we reflect on some of RTGS.global’s big moments in 2024.
RTGS around the world
It’s been a whirlwind of events and networking for the global team, tracking from our base in London across the Middle East and APAC. Here is just a snapshot of our globetrotting…
Chennai, India
The team attended HCLTech’s customer innovation event in Chennai. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our platform to HCLTech’s major financial services clients, and our own Marcus Treacher engaged the attendees with deep dives into RTGS.global’s unique settlement model.
Hong Kong
At the Hong Kong FinTech Week, the team enjoyed listening to the latest developments in payments as well as those in AI, tokenisation and its regulation and much more.
Bahrain
We held a breakfast seminar event in Bahrain in partnership with Bahrain Fintech Bay to showcase RTGS.global's innovative solutions and their potential to transform the Bahraini financial landscape.
Jakarta, Indonesia
The team conducted a workshop for delegates from central and commercial banks across Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The three days were jam-packed and provided a platform for attendees to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation across ASEAN.
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Over in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, we engaged with Central Asian financial institutions and stakeholders. Our Head of Business Development in CEE, Tomas Pithart, took to the stage at the Plus Forum - Digital Kyrgyzstan, where he spoke on removing friction for cross-border payments across Asia.
London, UK
Back at base, RTGS.global hosted guests from across the financial industry at the iconic London venue, Tower Bridge, for an evening of networking with a keynote talk by Olympic skeleton bobsleigh champion Amy Williams. At the event, we also launched our landmark whitepaper, ''Cross-border Settlement with Certainty''. Within the paper, we reviewed the current cross-border settlement process and highlighted an alternative approach.
A year of company milestones
So much can happen in a year, it’s hard to capture the breadth of work RTGS.global has completed in just 12 months. But here are some of the highlights.
The RTGS.global team started 2024 with a bang. We successfully completed another instant settlement cross-border transaction conducted through our global network – the second in a matter of months. Involving five banks across three separate jurisdictions, the pilot saw Credo Bank in Georgia, Anorbank in Uzbekistan, and MDO Humo, Alif Bank and Bank Arvand in Tajikistan, conduct multiple Payment vs. Payment and cross-border payments in real currencies, in a controlled environment. This was followed up later in the year with the team completing a further instant settlement cross-border transaction, this time between the UK and Australia.
In the Autumn, RTGS.global announced the launch of our unique solution for Payment Service Providers (PSPs) that will enable them to offer cheaper and faster international payments to their retail and corporate customers. With competitive foreign exchange rates and low international payments fees no longer a sufficient differentiator, our atomic settlement solution gives PSPs a competitive advantage by enabling more efficient movement of liquidity to payment destinations required by their customers.
Alongside all of these product announcements, we completed the rebuild and launch of our company website. It marked an important step in the RTGS.global brand’s journey, and celebrated our evolution and growth as we continue to bring innovation to the cross-border payments space.
RTGS.global in the press
And to finish off, we’ve collated some of our favourite moments of RTGS.global and its leaders being celebrated as innovators and thought leaders.
Award wins
We were extremely proud to win our first award within the Asia Pacific Region. Our hard-working team emerged victorious at the FX Markets Awards for 'Best Settlement and Risk Mitigation Solution'.
On top of that, RTGS.global was named the winner of the ‘Top Innovation In Payments’ award at the prestigious PayTech Awards ceremony in London.
Press highlights
Our CEO, Jarrad Hubble, featured in the Central Bank Payments News Member Supplement, sharing his insights into the changing landscape of cross-border settlement and the opportunities for global economic growth for those financial institutions that embrace modernisation.
RTGS.global’s Executive Chair, Marcus Treacher sat down with Ketevan Khomerikim Product Development Manager at Credo Bank for Payment Expert. They reflected on the significance of the recent instant settlement cross-border transaction and outlined the future for the sector as it continues to evolve.
Hiba Chamas, our Director of Business Development, gave an assessment of the Middle East’s evolving role as a global financial hub. Historically oil-based economies, the Middle East is rapidly shedding its resource-dependent image, placing financial innovation at the core of its economic strategy.
A few words from Executive Chair, Marcus Treacher
"2024 was a year of collaboration and achievement for RTGS.global. As we continue to join forces with industry leaders and improve our cutting-edge technology, our mission to make cross-border payments faster and safer becomes that bit easier. As we enter 2025, we're committed to building on our successes and celebrate those driving us forwards."
